Accessibility statement
Last updated and effective: October 9, 2026
JDM Philly wants every customer to be able to find, research, and buy parts on jdmphilly.com, including people who are blind or have low vision, are deaf or hard of hearing, or have motor, cognitive, or speech disabilities. This statement describes the standards we work toward, what we have done, the limitations we know about, and how to reach us if something does not work for you.
Section 1 – Standards we work toward
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG is built on four principles:
- Perceivable: information is available to at least one of your senses, for example through text alternatives for images.
- Operable: every feature works with a keyboard, switch, voice control, or other input device.
- Understandable: text is clear, pages behave predictably, and error messages explain how to fix the problem.
- Robust: content works reliably with browsers and assistive technologies, now and in the future.
Accessibility is ongoing work. Our website changes as we add inventory and features, and we review it regularly against these guidelines.
Section 2 – What we do
- Clear page structure: we use headings in a logical order and standard page regions (header, navigation, main content, footer) so screen readers can move around each page efficiently.
- Text alternatives: we give meaningful images, such as product photos and brand logos, descriptive alternative text, and hide purely decorative images from screen readers.
- Keyboard access and visible focus: links, buttons, menus, and form fields can be reached with the Tab key, and we show a visible focus outline so you always know where you are.
- Labeled controls: icon-only links, such as our social media links, have accessible names, and form fields have visible labels and clear error messages.
- Color and contrast: we aim for WCAG AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text) and do not rely on color alone to convey information.
- Responsive layout and zoom: pages adapt to phones, tablets, and desktops, and content reflows when you zoom in.
- Language support: each page declares its language, and you can view the site in English or Español.
- Easy contact options: our phone number and email address are tap-to-call and tap-to-email links on every page.
- Plain-language policies: our policies are published as regular web pages, not as images or scanned documents.
Section 3 – Accessibility across key tasks
Finding parts
Category pages, search, and our buying guides use descriptive link text rather than “click here,” and menus can be opened and navigated with a keyboard.
Product pages
Prices, condition, mileage, and fitment details are shown as text, not embedded in images, so assistive technology can read them.
Cart and checkout
Our cart lists each item’s name, quantity, and price as readable text. Payment is completed in Stripe’s secure checkout or PayPal (see Section 6). If you have any difficulty paying online, call us and we will help you complete your order by phone.
Your account
Signed-in customers can view orders and invoices and change their profile, password, and appearance (light or dark mode) settings from the account area.
Section 4 – Assistive technology
We design our website to work with current versions of major browsers and common assistive technologies, including:
- Screen readers: NVDA and JAWS on Windows, VoiceOver on macOS and iOS, and TalkBack on Android
- Keyboard-only navigation and switch devices
- Voice control: Dragon, Windows Voice Access, and Apple Voice Control
- Screen magnifiers and browser zoom
For the best experience, keep your browser and assistive technology up to date. If a particular combination does not work well on our site, please tell us.
Section 5 – Known limitations
We believe in being open about the barriers we know of. We are working on them, and we can always help you through another channel in the meantime.
| Area | Limitation | Alternative |
|---|---|---|
| Payment checkout | Card and PayPal payment screens are provided by Stripe and PayPal. We cannot change their code. | Call us to place your order by phone. |
| Spanish pages | The Español version may use automated translation, so some part names and legal terms may be imprecise. | Contact us by phone or email and we will explain any listing or policy. |
| Older product photos | Some older listing photos may have generic alternative text. | Condition details are always in the listing text, and we can describe any photo on request. |
| Map directions | Our address opens in Google Maps, which has its own accessibility limitations. | Our full address is always shown as text: 7336 State Rd, Philadelphia, PA 19136. |
Section 6 – Third-party content
Some features rely on outside services whose code we do not control. We choose providers that publish accessibility commitments and report problems to them when we find them:
- Stripe provides our card checkout.
- PayPal provides PayPal checkout.
- Google Maps provides directions to our warehouse.
- Facebook and Instagram host our social media pages.
Section 7 – Accessibility and the law
- Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA): Title III of the ADA prohibits disability discrimination by businesses open to the public. The U.S. Department of Justice has said this applies to websites, and WCAG 2.1 Level AA is widely used as the technical benchmark. We use it as ours.
- Pennsylvania: the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act prohibits disability discrimination by places of public accommodation, and the Philadelphia Fair Practices Ordinance provides similar protection in the city where we are based.
- Other states: many states, including New Jersey, New York, Delaware, and Maryland, have their own disability anti-discrimination laws. Wherever you live, we will fix barriers when we learn of them and help you through an accessible alternative in the meantime.
If you believe you have been denied equal access, please contact us first so we can address it directly. You also have the right to file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division.
Section 8 – How we handle reports
- We log your report as soon as it arrives by email or phone.
- We acknowledge it within 2 business days and confirm we are looking into it.
- We reproduce the problem using the device and assistive technology you describe, where possible.
- We give you another way to get what you need right away, for example by placing your order or sending product details by phone or email.
- We fix the problem, update this statement if needed, and let you know when the fix is live.
Section 9 – Report a barrier or get help
If any part of our website is hard to use, email Jdmphilly7@gmail.com with the subject “Accessibility Feedback,” or call (215) 613-8004. It helps if you include:
- The page address (URL) where you had the problem
- What you were trying to do and what happened
- Your browser and device, and any assistive technology you use
- How you would prefer us to contact you
You never need to explain or prove a disability to get help. Our team can also take your order, answer product questions, and look up your order status by phone or email.
